what am i going to call - heads or hearts?
i've noticed that i'm not able to make decisions anymore. is this part of getting 'old'? when i was younger i'd jump for anything - i only applied for one college, one university and usually one job. i wouldn't weigh pros or cons, i'd just say to myself "yup, this is it" and go for it. now is look at too many factors. i'm not sure which is better but it's driving me crazy.
i'm trying to decide where to live for the next few months before heading out west. if i follow my head, i'd probably stay here in ottawa, if follow my heart, i'd probably go back to halifax.
PRO OTTAWA: surgeon is here, physio and chiro established, probably have a job (find out this week), possibility of meeting new people, able to save more money
CON OTTAWA: if i get the job the commute will be 1 hour each way, live in the suburbs (EECH), have my own room but its also the communal computer room
PRO HALIFAX: feel comfortable and at home there, have my own room, family and few friends are there, possibility fo meeting new people, commuting to downtown is 10 minutes
CON HALIFAX: need to establish medical stuff (would be referred to surgeon but not sure how long waiting list is), wages are lower, because i know people down there i'd be going out more and not saving as much
if you managed to read this horribly boring blog THANK YOU. what do you think?
just got a phone call. i got the job. wow. i need to decide today

You could try Ottawa for a while, until your body is better anyway, and try the job for a while. Then, if you were thinking of Halifax still, you could pack it all in and move.
I'm in 2 minds about this kind of decision. Sometimes I think it's not where we are, it's what we make of it ie. anyplace can be cool if you make it work for you. Then I think, sometimes we are just happier in some places than other places, and we should just go with that, and not make it hard for ourselves.
But I'm pretty decided that if you try living somewhere, and give it some time, then still don't like it, you don't have to stick it out.
Thinking some more about Halifax, sometimes it's nice to just be where your friends are, regardless of job and so on. So maybe you will want to end up there after all. However, my main concern would be getting your elbow etc healed properly, before anything else...cause if you ain't got your elbows, what are you going to prop up your cocktails with?
Katie, What's the job? I'm with Kate on this one - use Ottawa as a chance to save some coin, get the elbow fixed (I can think of other reasons why you should get your elbows fixed ;))and then head out to Halifax. The way that you used to talk about Halifax you should defintely spend some time there before heading out West.
Will definitely be coming to visit y'all when you get out West!
Missing you!
